Thank a lot for your help and everything that organized me the best trip to Peru I've ever had! Climbing Chachani was one of my ultimate dreams for a long time since I made it to the top! It was the highest point of my life at 6075m with your helpful guide - Jose; he's considerate, friendly and helpful guide even though he walk too fast!! Anyway, that was one of my memorial treks in my life so far! Now, I ready to summit some peak in Himalayas!

PUKA Q'ELLO VALLEY TREKKING $89 USD Per Person - Group Service

One Day Off Beaten Path At Chachani Mountain

Puka Q'ello Valley Trekking is a challenge and adventure activity between 5000M and 3400M about sea level. The etymology says “Puka Q’ello” comes from ancient Quechua language and means “Orange”. This is right because this trekking is done through a nice colorful arid valley on the north side of Chachani Mountain (6070M), where is a small region of the mountain were painted by volcano activities. The amazing geological scenery is a perfect location for testing your trekking skill on high altitude.
This day trek through Puka Q'ello Valley (Orange Valley) is suitable for everyone wanting to experience downhil trekking and be awarded seeing wildlife as Deers, Vicuñas, Huanacos, Andean Eagles, Chinchilla's, Andean Foxes, and in some days is possible to see Andean Condors flying around.

PUKA Q'ELLO VALLEY TREKKING ITINERARY

At 8AM our driver and guide will pick up from your hotel located in downtown of Arequipa. You will use one of our jeep's to travel for about 3hrs to the bakcisde of Chachani Mountain, which is the national reserve of Aguada Blanca and Salinas (366,936 hectares). The first 2hrs will be on paved road and the last hour will be challenge off-roading on very steep and dirty road up to 5000M of altitude. Little time to check all our trekking gear, water, walking poles are recommended, good trekking boots, etc.

Around 11AM we begin our downhill trek through volcanic region - The first attraction of this challenge trekking will be the view of little rocky volcanoe on the left side of the valley.
This trek includes amazing downhill from 5000M down to 3400M about sea level (16km - 9.32miles), for about 4hrs passing the orange valley as known as Puka Q'ello valley, decorated with wildlife as Vicuñas and Huanacos and they natural habitat.
The trail follow a nice valley overlooking away mountains and volcanoes as Sabancaya, which offer us tens of daily 25 explosions with dense gas-and-ash-plumes up 2km above the summit and drifted in multiple directions. Next to Sabancaya volcano we will see another huge snow-mountain as known as Ampato (6288M), where Juanita mummy as known as "Ice maiden princess", was found in 1995 by the american Johan Reinhard.
Between 1PM and 2PM and on the half way down we will find another natural view point, and take rest and enjoy our picnic view amazing panorama around.

2 hrs more of downhill trekking on steep switchback path we will arrive to the end of the trail (3400M), where will be waiting our car and then you will transferred for about 1hr to your hotel in Arequipa and end of service.

TREK DISTANCE AND TIMING

The downhill trek distance will be 15KM from 5100M to 3430M following single track through wild sceneries and passing small forest of Queña trees and amazing views. The trek timing will be around 5hrs, everything will be according your trekking skills..
This trekking option is dedicated for trekker lovers because the descend demand to be in good physical conditions.

IMPORTANT BEFORE YOU BOOK A TREK TO CHACHANI MOUNT

PERU ADVENTURE TOURS as a certified tour operator never works as intermediaries or pass our customer to other operator to develop this adventure - We sell our treks/tours/services and we develop them according our own logistics (transportation, guides, equipment’s, camp staff and others) without compromise with other tour companies - We really recommend to take lot care before you book a cheap trek to Chachani with other "tour company" because easily they can cancel the depart if they don't get more than 4 participants to make a group or they can change the date of your trek to join other later group or they will refund your money saying fake excuses to avoid any responsibility as intermediaries.
GROUP SERVICE $89 USD Per Person (Up to 6 people per each guide): This service requires 3 participants as minimum to be a group - If you come alone (solo) or your group is not more than 2 people we can accept your reservation but under condition to find more people until a day prior of your trip otherwise we will refund of your money by PayPal - Normally the group size vary between 4 and 6 participants for each guide.
PRIVATE SERVICE $149 USD Per Person (Up to 6 people per each guide): This option is completely flexible at depart or returning time, because will be arranged only for you and your companions, without other participants. Booking a private service the customers have the option to be drop-off at airport or bus station of Arequipa at the end of the service. - We recommend to reserve this tour in advance to guarantee all services and of course this can be booked one day in advance but the service will be guarantee only if we have available transport/driver, tour guide and porters.

RAIN SEASON AT CHACHANI MOUNTAIN

From December to March every year there is heavy rain season up on the Andes and Chachani is not excluded. Some days could be blue sky with good weather conditions until midday, but the afternoon will be raining or could be cloudy - Off course we recommend to do this trek during the dry season (April to Nnovember) to enjoy the weather and scenery around Chachani. In any case we always recommend to bring rain/wind proof jacket and waterproof boots for better performance at trekking time.

ADVICE FOR TREKKING LOVERS - DIFFICULTIES - PRICE - ITINERARY

The best is to have acclimatize to altitude before you plan to go up to 5000M, off course the way up will be in a 4x4 (3hrs), but we still recommend to take advantage of the situation drinking water as much as you can to oxygenate your body and prevent altitude sickness. A good physical condition is demanding as well because will be around 15KM and 1400M of descending in about 4hrs more less, this means will be hard for the legs and ankles.
We definitely recommend to be ready for challenge trekking.Everyone is welcome do to this trek but have to be used to trekking long distances.
