Our newest classic and adventure tour itinerary combine the visit the rainforest of Tambopata national reserve located into the heart of the Amazon, where the unique access is taking motorized canoe along Madre De Dios River and observing wildlife on bank of the river. The Andean white water rafting in the Apurimac River and through the lands of fascinating pre-Incan civilizations makes unforgettable experience. Apurimac River in the native Andean Quechua language meaning “Speaker of the gods”. The Apurimac River is one of the best to practice white water rafting in Peru with class III – IV and IV+ rapids with lot wildlife, camping and enjoying safety and fun rafting.
The tour itinerary also includes thrilling trekking through the high mountain around Cusco, the Lares trek to Machu Picchu includes nice camping, trekking with Llamas as ancient civilization did to travel long distances following challenge Inca path.

DAY 1: WELCOME TO LIMA - PERU (Hotel in Lima)

At mentioned time welcome reception in the airport of Lima and then transfer to select hotel located near of the airport.

DAY 2: LIMA - TAMBOPATA NATIONAL RESERVE - BOAT TRIP - CLOUDS OF BUTTERFLIES (Jungle Lodge)

At 5am or 7am (rec) pick up from your hotel of Lima and private transfer to the international airport of Lima to catch the flight to Puerto Maldonado. After arrival in Puerto Maldonado, welcoming and take a brief tour of the town, before boarding a motorized canoe. During the trip you may see Caimans, clouds of Butterflies, river Turtles and other jungle life. After traveling 3 hours down river, arrive at the lodge located in the Tambopata Wildlife Reserve. You are now deep inside the pristine rain forest. Once settled and after a brief rest, take a short walk to a nearby small lagoon, returning in time to observe the fantastic sunset at "Sunset Point". Once back at the lodge, board a canoe for a short night trip to spot caimans on the riverbanks. After dinner at the lodge, the resident naturalists will brief you on the Amazon. Stay in bungalows with shower and baths availability (L - D).

DAY 3: TAMBOPATA - MACAWS CLAY LICK - WILDLIFE WATCHING (Jungle Lodge)

Early morning travel by canoe on the Tambopata River to Bahuaja. Sonene national reserve, just in time to see the amazing sunrise, also to see many types of wildlife watching like Deer, Capibaras, Tapir in the deep rainforest. After short trip we will be in the best location to appreciate hundreds of Parakeets, Parrots and Macaws clay, around the springs enjoying their daily diet of salts on the banks of the river. Short hike looking for monkeys. Return to the lodge to have our breakfast, plenty of time to rest.
After lunch will enter walking to observe wildlife, like peccaries, deer, and others, with the possibility to hear or see the tracks of them, or discovering a troop of monkeys traveling through the forest in search of food. Time permitting we will be able to enjoy a relaxing swim in the cascade of the cat. After dinner relax in our lodge surrounded by exotic nocturnal jungle sounds. Stay in bungalows with shower and baths availability (L - D).

DAY 4: TAMBOPATA - PUERTO MALDONADO – CUSCO (Hotel in Cusco)

Early morning breakfast before leaving from the lodge and transfer to the airport of Puerto Maldonado and then flight to Cusco.
Around 12pm you will landed in the airport of Cusco and them transfer to the selected hotel (included). Rest of the day will be free for personal activities or rest to acclimatize to the altitude – recommended (B).

DAY 5: CUSCO CITY TOUR (Hotel in Cusco)

Around 8am you will picking up from the hotel to begin the walking and guided tour of the historical center of Cusco. The walking tour includes visiting the cathedral, the Koricancha complex (sun temple) and local museums to introduce you to the Andean world. Then you will transferred by private bus tour to the surrounding archaeological sites as Saqsayhuaman, Kenko, Puca Pucara and finally the water fountain of Tambomachay. This guided tour takes around 5 hours witch some option to walk around to see more of the countryside of Cusco – Under request only and if the weather and time permits (B – L - D).

DAY 6: CUSCO – ANTA – CUSICHACA - WALPACHACA VALLEY – WHITE WATER RAFTING IN APURIMAC RIVER Camping)

Today you must need a good breakfast because will be the beginning of the adventure white water rafting in the Apurimac River. The tour begin with picking up from hotel and driving on Andes through remote villages, meeting local farmers, spectacular views of the valley and snow-capped. The transfer from Cusco to Walpachaca (2000) bridge takes around 5 hours. It will take us a couple hours to prepare all the equipment, self-bailing rafts, oars, paddles, coolers, helmets, lifejackets, wet suits etc. Safety talks and drills into rafting techniques. We will put emphasis in training all the participants, in how to get back into the raft, flipping the raft, swimming a rapid etc.
You will be floating for 2 or 3 hours, doing class II and III rapids.
The camping zone will be choose by the guides and according the arrival time, stay in three capacity tents for two participants. Around 8pm will the dinner on the narrow gorge of the river (L - D).

DAY 7: WHITE WATER RAFTING IN APURIMAC RIVER (Camping)

After a healthy breakfast we start rafting around 9am. Today we will be in the water for about 6 hours, doing mostly class III and IV rapids, stopping for lunch somewhere on the way down and arriving to camp around 4pm. Today we´ll have more fun rafting this spectacular river, seeing more wild animals as Andean Condor, Andean eagle, etc. Before to get the lunch place there is section on the river as know “dolor de muela” (tooth ache) where the rafters will walk on the left and right bank de river to avoid the rapid class V, which is just for experience river rafters, the walk will takes 30 minutes to meet the raft boat again. Tea time and dinner and sleep on a sandy beach under the night sky of the southern hemisphere (B – L - D).

DAY 8: APURIMAC RIVER - CUSCO (Hotel in Cusco)

After a good breakfast we are going to be rafting through a couple of class III – IV - IV+ rapids with names such as “you first”, ”last laugh”. After 3 to 4 hours of rafting we will arrive to a little valley where we take out to pack all the equipment. There are available cold shower and then enjoy the lunch and around 2pm drive back to your hotel in Cusco, arriving around 6pm (B - L).

DAY 9: CUSCO - LARES VALLEY - HOT SPRING – WACAWASI (Camping)

At 6am private vehicle will pick you from your hotel, transfer through the sacred valley, archaeological remains, Andean markets, cultivated Inca terraces, small villages, and then pass the highest point of this trek know Huacacasi (4450m), from here downhill to Lares valley (3250m), where we have time to enjoy the thermals baths. Lunch is provided there as well. Here will meet the rest of our trek team, Cook and the Llameros (Llama handlers), Llamas to carry all food, our backpacks, and the camping gear.
Three hours of uphill trekking to Wacawasi, there we will set up, our campsite, here there is nice chance to meet the locals and they will show their artisan weaving exhibition and lessons about its ancient techniques (B – L - D).

DAY 10: WACAWASI - ABRA IPSAY – PATACANCHA Camping)

Today you must wake up at 7am and country breakfast with spectacular scenery. Today is the largest and hardest day of this entire Llama trek, will hike between 7 to 8 hours, on the beginning will be uphill to the Abra Ipsay (4480m). The climb is pretty hardwith indescribable panoramic view of snow-capped peaks of Pitusiray, Sawasiray, Chicon and surrounding by stunning landscape. Half way stop for lunch break. While hiking will pass Andean communities, they have a large knowledge of natural agriculture and ancient ways of working textile so that their colorful clothes, unique from this region. After the pass we'll continue our journey downwards until our campsite next to the small village of Patacancha (3720m). Set up the tents and time to explore around on your own (B – L - D).

DAY 11: PATACANCHA - PUMAMARKA - OLLANTAYTAMBO (Sacred Valley) - AGUAS CALIENTES TOWN Hotel in Aguas Calientes)

Today will be 5 hours of downhill hike where we'll pass local communities such as Willoq (3400m), Pumamarca (3200m) and many others. From Patacancha through the landscape, crossing these villages we can taste the traditions and habits passed on by our ancestors throughout the times of the Tahuatinsuyo Empire (the Inca-culture and traditions). Then we continue walking and arrive to Ollantaytambo (2850m) that speaks from its archaeological sites a wide story of Andean history. From Ollantaytambo we will take the train to Aguas Calientes (2050m), the tourist town build beneath the ruins of Machu Picchu. Spend the night at the selected hotel (B – L - D).

DAY 12: MACHU PICCHU COMPLETE GUIDED TOUR - SACRED VALLEY (Hotel in Ollantaytambo)

Today we take the first bus up to Machu Picchu, the lost city of the Incas. Usually we use to get by 7am, so from this time we will be able to visit Machu Picchu before others hikers arrive here. Completely guide tour of this complex and then you will have plenty of time to explore by yourself the whole site for about 3 hours and there is time as well to climb Huayna Picchu Mountain and get the best view over Machu Picchu.
’ll all meet afterwards to go down to Aguas Calientes (2050m) where you can take lunch before take train Ollantaytambo, arriving there after two hours. Stay in local hotel in the heart of the sacred valley of the Incas (B - L).

DAY 13: SACRED VALLEY TOUR - CUSCO (Hotel in Cusco)

Today you can have late country breakfast because around 9am you will be picking up from the hotel and guided tour to the sacred valley of the Incas, the tour begins with visit to the Inca fortress of Ollantaytambo, Urubamba, Calca, Pisac Andean market and ruins. After 5 or 6 hours guided tour in the sacred valley arrive to hotel in Cusco and leisure time for personal activities (B – L).

DAY 14: CUSCO - LIMA

At mentioned time picks up from hotel and transfer to airport of Cusco and flight to Lima and end of service (B).

Rain season December to April (Andes and Jungle), but some days are with blue sky permiting to visit this zone.
Best time to Visit At the coastal area almost all year. On the Andes and Jungle the best time is between April - November, considearte dry season.

IMPORTANT

This tour is not available during the raining season between December to May because the Apurimac River is closes and the Lares Llama trek is not recommend during the rainy season because there are heavy rain on the Andes.
