4WD Tour From Colca Canyon To Cusco

4X4 TOUR ITINERARY FROM AREQUIPA TO COLCA CANYON AND CUSCO

DAY 1: AREQUIPA - EL PEDREGAL - HUAMBO - CABANACONDE

At 7am pick from your hotel and departure to the Colca canyon in our private 4WD, travel to see the rest of the north part of Desierto de Atacama and drive up to the highlands crossing the valley of Vitor, Alto Sihuas, El Pedregal - short explore the remains of Wary culture as knows Huacan - Visit the south part of the Volcanoes range named Pampa Qerqe - Ampato Mountain viewpoint (4300m). Descend to Huambo town (3200m) and short explore countryside surrounded by pre Inca terraces and huge mountains complete cover by wild flora.
At 1pm arrive to Cabanaconde (3280m) to have lunch and lodging. Late afternoon short trek to Mirador de Achachigua, nice lookout of the Colca canyon and villages located on the left bank of the canyon. Stay at the selected hotel of Cabanaconde (L - D).

DAY 2: CABANACONDE - CONDOR CROSS - PINCHOLLO - LARI - ICHUPAMPA - COPORAQUE - CHIVAY - HOT SPRING

At 6am country breakfast and 2 hours of easy trekking along the canyon following nice even trail with chance to appreciate condors flying the second deepest canyon in the world. Around 9am arrive to the Condor Cross viewpoint and wait for the Condors flights. Then we continue traveling on our 4x4 vehicle to Pinchollo, locate on the left bank of Colca River. We cross the river driving and we arrive to Lari village, this native village keeps the biggest colonial church dated from Spanish conquest time. Finally arrive to Coporaque village and from here we do short trek to Uyu Uyu ruins located over the pre Incas terraces on the right bank of the canyon. At 2pm arrive to Chivay for lunch and check in a comfortable hotel.
At 5pm we visit the hot spring of LA CALERA, there you can enjoy enormous swim pools next of the Colca River.
At 7pm visit the Maria Reiche Planetarium, we invite you to immerse in the mysteries of the Colca Valley sky and enjoy the performance "Colca deep Canyon, deep sky". You can learn how the ancient inhabitants of the Andes interpreted the night sky according to their myths and beliefs. The performances include projecting constellations in the Planetarium dome as well as observing the stars of Colca`s sky through a professional telescope. Over night at this town, in a selected lodging (B - L - D).
Optional : Before or after lunch you can combine horseback riding around the canyon or downhill bike trip, both tours are additional cost. Also is possible to spend the night at Yanque village is so much quiet of Chivay, please let us know at booking time.

DAY 3: CHIVAY - SIBAYO - CONDOROMA REPRESS - TINTAYA - EL DESCANSO - LANGUI LAKE - SICUANI - RAQCHI WIRACOCHA TEMPLE - CUSCO

Today the breakfast will be at 6am in the hotel. At 7am we aboard our 4x4 vehicle and travel to the highest part of the Colca canyon, on the route we can appreciate the best views of the Pre Incas terraces on both bank of the river. We drive on gravel road ascending to Altiplano. On the road are available group of Llamas and Alpaca grazing on the plateau. This travel on the Altiplano go up to 4860m where is still possible see farmers traveling with their Llamas to the low valleys looking to find good place to make exchange (trueque) their product with potatos, weed or another local products.
After 4 hours we be around Langui Lake (3800m), there we stop to have the best view of this lake use for trout farm and surrounded by natives houses. Continue traveling descend to Sicuani (3200m), where we stop to have buffet lunch (variety of food). Continue driving 10 minutes more on good pay road arrive to Raqchi, this is located on one side of the Vilcanota river at 3500 meters (11500 feet). It seems that its Prehispanic name was "Cacha" instead of "Raqchi". Archaeological complex featuring stone pillars topped with adobe. This complex town of multiple constructions, even the terraces to cultivate had different purposes. "Kanchas" (apartments), "wayranas" (three walls building), "qolqas" (storages), urns, he religious fountains, etc. The most important building is the "Wiracocha temple" that was built by the Inca Wiracocha in honour to the superior God for the Andean people: "Apu Wiracocha".
From Raqchi we will continue traveling to Cusco, just 2 hours more and arrive to the selected hotel in Cusco (B - L).
