Mountain Climbing for many mountain enthusiasts the chance to ascend the snow peaks of the Andes is an irrestible challenge. The most demanding and popular place for mountaineering in Peru is the spectacular Cordillera Blanca in Huaraz region. There are many peaks over 5000m including an incredible 33 peaks over 6000m and Huacaran at 6768m, Peru´s highest peak. To do a guided climb up any one of these huge mountains takes a minimum of 3 days of more depend on the difficulty and altitude.

An other popular region is Arequipa with several active volcanoes in the region. The most popular climb is the beautiful El Misti whose conical form looms over the city of Arequipa. Climbing El Misti takes 2 days and does not require any previous mountaineering experience. Other volcanoes such as Chachani, Ampato, Coropuna, Mismi, Ubinas can be climbed accompanied with an experienced mountain guide and all take a minimum of 2 days between the months of April and November. Peru Adventure Tours climbing offer licensed mountain guides, all climb equipment you need, such as four season tents, ice axe, crampons, ice rope, bottle of oxygen, waterproof gloves, ice boots, and good porter service to carry all the gear. Rain season December to April (Andes and Jungle), but some days are with blue sky permiting to get good views of the zone.
Best time to Climb To climb any mountain over 5000m, only on the dry season between April to November. On the rains season (December - March) we don’t advice to pretend any climb, all the highest mountain are completely cloud and snowing that make hard and less chance to reach the summits.

Advice For Climbers

This program is exclusive organized for really adventure people want to climb high mountains over 5000m. All the climb requiring minimum experience, good physical conditions, and acclimatization. Also require good climbing gear (clothes), because the mountains were we arrange the base camp the temperature can be -25Cº. We advice don’t give candies or money to the kids on the way, where we go to climb we suggest to give them other presents (pencils, notebooks, etc). If you like take picture of the local people is better to coordinate before with guide, he/she can ask first if they accept.

  5. Flashlight and batteries
  6. Hat or cap to protect you from the sun
  7. Sun block (sun protection cream)
