CUSCO COMPLETE GUIDED TOUR ITINERARY

DAY 1: CUSCO - HORSEBACK RIDING IN THE SACRED VALLEY OF THE INCAS

At 7AM welcoming reception in the airport or pick up from your hotel of Cusco by our official tour guide, then one hour of transfer to Ollantaytambo (2700M) located in the heart of the sacred valley of the Incas. Saddle the horse and start our ride crossing the Urubamba river for climb 1000M to the high Andes (2 hours), there will see salt platforms of Salt, a fascinating system used since the Inca times to extract salt from a natural mountain spring. Take it easy because the change of altitude does not only affect the horses. Over 3750M you will be observing Chicon, Veronica and Salkantay snowcapped mountains. Haven a lunch in the typical Andean village of Maras, we continue our ride to Moray Inca complex. There are no great ruins in Moray to impress visitors. Moray is more for the contemplative traveler with an affinity for such phenomena as the Nasca Lines. After 5 or 6 hours ride we will return to the stable. Stay in nice country lodge in the sacred valley (L).

DAY 2: RIVER RAFTING IN THE SACRED VALLEY OF THE INCAS - AGUAS CALIENTES

At 8AM collection from the hotel of Sacred valley and drive through the Andes to the start point for rafting. Before to aboard the boats you will receive safety instruction and equipment. Then the guide will show some practices on the quiet and flatter parts of the river. Urubamba river rafting begin passing small villages, Inca terraces and rapids of class II - III where you will fill the wind and water in your face. After 3 hours of nice trip in the river passing small whirlpools and rafting down to Ollantaytambo we will finish the trip on the left bank of the river. Plenty time to change clothes and followed by nice lunch at the side of the river (Toilet facilities). Transfer to the hotel.
At 5:15PM transfer to the train station and aboard the train to Aguas Calientes (2hours). Welcoming to Aguas Calientes town and stay in the selected hotel. If the time permitting you can visit the hot spring located next of the town (B - L).

DAY 3: AGUAS CALIENTES - MACHU PICCHU FULL DAY GUIDED TOUR

At 6AM breakfast and aboard the first tourist bus to drop us to Machu Picchu main door, and to be the first visitors Inside Machu Picchu archaeological site you will have complete guided tour of this spectacular and mystical place. The guided tour include walk through the different section such as urban, agriculture, and the religions zone was used by the Inca Culture. According with your feeling will coordinating with the guide to climb Huayna Picchu (Young Mountain) this climbing take around 1 hour to get the summit from where you can have the best photos of all Machu Picchu and of deep green canyon surrounding the sacred Inca City. At 2PM we take tourist bus and drive down to Aguas Calientes and 4pm aboard the train to travel to Cusco (4 hours). Stay in the selected hotel (B - L).

DAY 4: CUSCO CITY TOUR

At 8AM we start to visit the 4 ruins around of the city, we drive up to Inca archaeological sites such as Tambomachay, Puca Pucara, Qenqo and finally Saqsayhuaman fortress. You will have 4 hours of complete guide tour of the Inca capital. Afternoon will be free for personal activities or shopping tour. Stay in the selected hotel (B).

DAY 5: CUSCO - LIMA

After breakfast and according your flight or bus ticket we will transfer you to the airport or bus station (B).

ADVICE FOR TRAVELERS

The best time to visit Peru/Machu Picchu is between April and July, just before of the high tourist season. The best place to exchange dollars for soles is in the big cities, the are many change office, airports. Credit cards are welcome in most of tourist places. Normal voluntary tipping for tour guides, waiters and other camp staff is 5/10%. For a day or two day trip you will need to bring only a day backpack to carry necessary things, the rest of your items can be stored in the hotels or in our local offices.
