Encounter With Aymara Culture 3 Days - 2 Nights

PERU ADVENTURE TOURS have an excellent opportunity to spend one or more days with a local family of Aymara community of Llachon, set on the Capachica peninsula on Lake Titicaca. The community is located in a very scenic part of the highest navigable Lake in the world. Access to Llachon is by boat or by land from Puno, taking about two hours to reach this ancestral place where the local´s still practices their ancient costumes.
The main attraction is the opportunity to live with the local people, to be participant in their festivities and discover their traditional way of life while sharing their typical food (vegetarian food is able), and rustic, warm and clean lodge, with basic services and facilities such as toilets and showers.
During your stay with the families, you will learn more about the local culture, their agricultural skills, fishing techniques and production of their intricate textiles. Spend the night here in a local house offering their simple typical cooked meals.
There are also nice alternative treks to the numerous pre-Inca ruins in the area and see the wildlife and fauna throughout the bay of Llachon.

LLACHON COMMUNITY TOUR ITINERARY

DAY 1: PUNO/JULIACA - CAPACHCA - LLACHON COMMUNITY

Today we will pick up you from Puno hotel or from the airport of Juliaca and transfer by private van along the shores of Lake Titicaca to the bay of Capachica, located on the northeastern of the lake. On the way we will appreciate wildlife and fauna from the Altiplano. Our journey will be around two hours through Aymara farmers and agriculture fields irrigated by ancestral hydraulic system.
Later arrive to the community of Llachon and welcomes introduce you to the local family house, if the time permitting will recognize the area. At 7pm dinner will be server under starry sky and stay in charm and comfortable basic lodge with special design to be in contact with the nature (L - D).

DAY 2: LLACHON COMMUNITY & RURAL ACTIVITIES

Today after country breakfast we share the day recognizing and helping to the local people with the daily activities, such as fishing on the lake, working the farm, painting or rebuilding some part of the houses or maybe help to take care the animals on the vast golden plains. Lunch will be in the middle of the activity area.
After nice day sharing our experienced with the local Aymara people we back home to spend the second night (B &- L - D).

DAY 3: LLACHON COMMUNITY - AMANTANI ISLAND - TAQUILE ISLAND - PUNO

At 7am breakfast and the aboard our private speed boat to drop us into Amantani island, where we hike up to the Pachatata temple, spectacular view of the Lake Tititcaca, Continue exploring the highest navigable lake in the world will aborad again our boat to take us to Taquile island and then 2 and half hours hike crossing the lake you will arrive at the last place to visit. Visit and explanation about the live, culture, typical costume and every common activity at the main square, short treks around the island including lunch in the co-operative restaurant, there is also a co-operative shop on the plaza that sells exceptional woolen goods which are not cheap but of very fine quality. Taquile Island is famous for its craft production, particularly for its beautiful textiles. The island is narrow only about 1 KM wide, but 6 to 7 Km. long, on Taquile there are numerous pre-Inca and Inca ruins and Inca terracing. Finally transfer to Uros floating islands, visit the main attraction of the island, small museum and some small handicraft shops.
At 4 or 5pm you will return to Puno, the trip end with transfer to the selected hotel (B - L).

RAIN SEASON

December to April. Some days blue sky with good conditions to visit the llachon region.

BEST TIME TO VISIT

April to November is dry season and the weather in the day could be sunny or some day litle cloud. Puno is the highest region in Peru and eans some days even the dry season can be raining, but not for al day or than 2 days.

ADVICE FOR TRAVELLERS

You need good acclimatization and good quality winter clothes. To bring something extra for eat like snack or fresh fruits. If you are interesting to give some gifts to the local Childs we will be welcome, one of the gifts could be pens, books, erasers, or something similar, but never suits or candies.
