La Huacachina is a beautiful oasis located 5km southwest from Ica and about 6 minutes drive. Small attractive lagoon and famous for the medicinal properties of its waters. Super landscape surrounded by high sandbanks, palm tree groves and age old Huarango trees (Carob tree).
By the ends of the XIX century Huacachina was practically uninhabited, until the Italian Angela Perotti rediscovered the medical properties of water and sand of the lagoon, specially for the cure of skin and rheumatism illnesses. An ideal place for relax or for the desert adventures. Buggies and Sandboarding has become popular on the sand dunes (Huacachina) an ideal area to take to the steep sandy slopes of the desert.

LA HUACACHINA TOUR ITINERARY

At mentioned time the tour guide or someone from PERU ADVENTURE TOURS office will wait for you at the bus station or you will be picking up from your hotel in Ica or La Huacachina.
The tour includes transfer to La Huacachina by private transport and lead by the tour guide and instructor.
The tour guide will provide safe talking about Sandboard and Sandbuggy tour, how you need to use the boards and how to take care when you are in our 4x4 trucks.
The tour begins driving over Sand dunes around the Oasis La Huacachina, the driver will drop you to the tops of the dunes, and on the summit of the dunes you can practice Sandboarding (downhill) on the hottest and amazing landscape of the Peruvian coast.
The tour over the dunes include many stops along the way, plenty time of practice Sandboarding and Dune Buggy.
PERU ADVENTURE TOURS recommend this adventure sport for everyone, people don't need to be experienced, there are not any risky for beginners. We just recommend being fun people to get more fun on the middle of the desert of Peru.
After 2 hours we return to the Oasis La Huacachina, where we provide place to get cold shower to get out the sand and then we invite a delicious lunch included to end this unforgettable tour on the sand banks.

ADVICE FOR VISITORS

PERU ADVENTURE TOURS recommend booking your trip choosing the departure time at 7am or 4pm. If you book the tour for 4pm will be great because you can make nice pictures of the sunset from over the sand dunes.

WEATHER

The weather in this region of Ica is very hot during the day and during the night is just fresh and nice. During the day the temperature is 35ºC on the summer (December - April), the rest of the year normally is 28ºC.
We also recommend bringing summer clothing, tennis shoes and short pants.
