Sandboarding tour is a fast growing actitivity around the globe and has strong roots in Peru, Australia, Japan, and Germany and is said originated in Egypt and China over a millennia ago when people used to skid down sand dunes during festivals. Boards range from 100cm to 160cm depending of if the pilot is looking for air, tricks or carves.
Both beginners and expert snowboarders can enjoy Sandboarding. The basic are easy to pick up and on a lot of the tours offer variety of dunes to choose from with different gradients.
Our top locations include the highest sand dune in the world Cerro Blanco 2070m near Nasca city and combined Sandboarding and dune bugging tour in the smaller dunes at La Huacachina de Ica and the coast of Camana.

AREQUIPA SANDBOARD TOUR ITINERARY
At 7AM we pick up all participants from their hotels and then travel by private transport to the southwest of Arequipa by the highway to Tacna.
During the travel we pass the Uchumayo Valley and from there we drive up to small rocky mountain from where you can appreciate spectacular view of the volcanic range surrounding the white city of Arequipa.
Downhill driving to the southwest we will take the first turn-on to the left and we continue driving and finally arrive to the bottom of the first sand dune as known G.
Off road tour on the desert and drive up to the top and the sand dunes and practice of Sandboard - Free style ride downhill. After 30 minutes of practice we will continue driving along the plateau and crossing small green valley in the middle of the driest desert of Arequipa arrive to the second dune as known GG. Our 4x4 trucks will drop us to the top of the Sand dune, we drive into wild terrain get spectacular view of the Andes and the desert of Arequipa.
Finally we continue driving along dirt and abandoned road looking to find the best way up to the top of the third highest Sand dune as named GGG. This dune offer nice view and largest way for nice downhill on the boards.
There we practice the ancient favorite sport of the Egyptians, today is known as Sandboarding. This sport is available for everyone, experience or beginners are welcome to practice downhill on the boards.
After 2 hours of Sandboard on the dunes we continue driving to visit the Pacific Ocean, located 40 minutes away from the dunes. We enter to Cocachacra and then to Chucarapi Valley, following the Tambo River and the visit the Mejia Lagoons National Bird Sanctuary, located just next of the sea. This bird reserve is one of the favorite places for bird watching lovers in Arequipa. Two hour of walking recognizing this reserve we go to the beach and then you can taste seafood for lunch.
Plenty time to enjoy the beach and around 4pm return to the hotel in Arequipa.
