Arequipa Desert Tour begins on 2008 after some 4WD expedition on the desert on the southwest of Arequipa. This tour combine some Off Road drive on dry land and practice Sand Skiing or Sandboard on the Sand dunes founded in the middle of rocky zone between Arequipa and the Pacific Ocean.
After many testing expeditions and finding the correct sand dunes we decided to offer this adventure to practice the favorite Egyptian sport.

AREQUIPA HALF-DAY SANDBOARD ITINERARY
At 6AM or 2PM begin the adventure with pick-up from your hotel in Arequipa downtown. Firstly, we will drive from Arequipa to the southwest, passing through the Uchumayo Valley. Stop at a small rocky mountain to take in spectacular views of the volcanic range surrounding the white city of Arequipa.
Continue downhill, taking the first turn-off to the left and going off-road through the desert. Pass small dry canyons and wild terrain until the reach a large desert. Finally, arrive at the undiscovered sand dunes.
Receive a safety briefing and some recommended tricks to practice sandboarding. Whether you’re a beginner or an expert snowboarder, the dunes are waiting for you for challenge slide down, reaching speeds of almost 35km/h.
Enjoy a freestyle downhill ride on the dunes, standing up, sitting, or belly-style. The only hard part is climbing up to the top of the dune, which takes between 3 and 5 minutes, each time. The last activity will be 15min uphill hike, to the one of summit, enjoy a spectacular view of the coastal desert and the Andes. To be at top of the dune will be unforgettable experience, awarded with background wildness sceneries.
After 2h30m adventure practicing of sandboarding in a very remote and unique landscape we will get out of the desert with challenging off-roading and then 1h30m drive back to your hotel in Arequipa. End of service.
FEW THINGS BEFORE YOU GO IN OUR TRIP:

When going Sandboarding wear comfortable clothes, shorts and long sleeve T-Shirt are ideal. Don’t forget to bring your hat, sunscreen, sunglass and plastic bag to protect your camera from the sand and dust.

Every time you go for Sandboard use WAX, this need to be reapplied according to the instructions provided with your board – Remember NOT WAX no speed and not fun.
