Cycling The Inca Land - Full Day Adventure Tour
Maras & Moray for all mountain biking lovers, Peru has one of the largest networks of Inca remains and following the innumerable trails that connect with the most amazing sites in the Cusco, Puno, Nasca, Lima, Arequipa, Paracas, passing through remote villages out of the reach of motorised vehicles, and having the chance to get know local Andean communities and learn their amazing life style. Mountain Biking is a relatively new sport in Peru, but new routes are rapidly being opened up, many of which offer excellent opportunities to ride.
For the more adventurous people, we arrange long biking trips. We are best undertaken and an experienced tour operator providing professional guides and bicycle equipment as well as the necessary supporting vehicles.
We have cycle trips from 1 up to more days designed to get the most out of your holiday. Beginning in the high Andes and descending into the Amazon jungle, we cycle from altitudes of 5000M to 600M. Biking on the single tracks, dirt roads, humid lands, frigid and warm climates, camping or spending in the local's family houses.
TOUR ITINERARY TO MORAY AND MARAS
At 7AM we pick you up from customer hotel in Cusco downtown and then 40min of private transfer to the countryside until the Andean town of Chincheros (3750M). Here there is an archeological site and for bikers interesting to see more Inca’s remains is OPTIONAL the visit for about 40min.
Before to begin the bike adventure, all participants need to pay attention to safety talking and other advice of tour guide to avoid troubles during the trip.
Around 8:30AM begin the cross-country biking tour on the nice Andean landscape with amazing mountain views. One of the first natural attraction will be the Huaypo lagoon (3515M), this is surrounding by picturesque little village and friendly people practicing their daily farming activities. Continue biking on gravel road and viewing amazing views of surrounding mountains and crossing vast agriculture fields we will arrive to Moray (3470M). Here we walk for about 30min to enjoy this archeological site. The Chronicles say Moray was possibly an Inca agricultural research center where crop experiments were carried out at different heights.
Before to continue biking to next tourist attraction we will find a nice viewpoint to enjoy some snacks and relax the muscles. The second section of this bike trip will again cross-country style and downhill to Maras (2980M), is an Inca settlement, and is a place named Salineras, are extensive terracing salt areas, controlled, and used since before Inca days.
After 5-6 hours biking 35km (+-), and stopping at different viewpoints the lunch will be offered next of Urubamba town (2870M).
Around 3PM we will drive back 2hrs to your hotel in Cusco and end of service.
IMPORTANT
-This trip is for beginners, and experience bikers, you can choose to ride in asphalt road, dirt road and single trucks. Will be a nice experience mixing the sport and knowledge of the Inca culture.
-In case you are looking at the end of the biking trip to be drop-off at Ollantaytambo town, for sure this will be possible but with additional cost, this can be arranged at booking time.
