COLCA CANYON TREKKING - HIKING IN THE COLCA VALLEY $292 USD Per Person - Group Service

At 3AM pickup from hotel in Arequipa, orientation about our trek and journey of 6 hours to Colca Canyon - Cabanaconde village.

At 8:45AM brief stop at the Condor Cross - Tapay viewpoint (3600 meters above sea level). Lunch at Cabanaconde (3280M), located in the left rim of the Canyon. Start trekking in the Colca Canyon descending 4 hours to the Colca River (2160M), a difference of 1200 meters. We will cross to the other side of the Canyon and ascend to our family cabins or camping place.

At 2PM arrival to the lodge and short walk to the San Juan de Chuccho village (2300M) - Late lunch will be provided by local family and them little relax - Afternative get together with the children and locals from this valley, participation in agricultural and other activities around as short walk to see the ruins on the upper section of the valley - Dinner and family lodge, the room have nice view of the canyon, cold shower available and bath is out of the room.

At 7AM country breakfast offered by the family and begin long ascent to our next village called Tapay (3000M). Visit Cosñirhua and Malata (2600M) its church of mixed racial ancestry, sights of the local landscape, very old terraces, snow-capped summits, varieties of flora and fauna.

After six hours hiking into both canyons (Colca & Llatica) passing small rivers, cactus forest, dry and dirty zones, will arrive to Fure village (3100M), located on the left rim of the Llatica canyon with mighty clean river.

At 2PM have lunch in our family lodge, located over small hill, supported by pre Incas terraces worked by local villages and the best views of this greenness canyon. Free afternoon for rest, to explorer around or you can exchange languages with curious local kids - The room is without bath and available cold shower - Breakfast, lunch, dinners and family lodge. Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner and Family Lodge or Camping.

Before breakfast we will do a short trekking to a nice waterfall of Waruro (80M high) , is hike is on the right bank of the Llatica river, following small path in the middle of the cactuses, walking over the cliffs and after one hour arrival to the powerful waterfall, completely green and noisy place - The waterfall offer great view during and just after the raining season.... more powerful and green.

At 9AM breakfast in our lodge and continuing trekking going down to Llatica village and cross the river by an hanging bridge, short explore to this quite place.

At 2PM we will arrive to deepest area of the Colca canyon. Llahuar (2100M) is a nice place located between Colca and Llatica rivers, one of the best places to get our lunch with nice view of both canyons. The afternoon is free to enjoy and use the thermals pools (hot spring 38°C temperature) next of the river - Today the room will be facing the river and are located very close to hot spring, the bath are out of the room and cold shower available. Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner and Family Lodge or Camping.

GROUP SERVICE: Today everyone needs to wake up at 2AM or 3AM according your decision you toke in the night before. Hot drink and begin of the hardest hike of this expedition through the second deepest canyon in the world. The hike will be in the dark following stony path and crossing suspension bridges over two rivers. Nice climbing under starry sky (April - December). The trekking from the bottom of the canyon (2100M) to Cabanaconde town (3280M) takes around 5 or 6 hours with amazing view of the canyon and with possibilities to see some condors on the way up. For this part of the trekking is necessary to bring a headlamp with batteries and walking poles will be very helpful.

Around 8AM you will arrive to the Cabanaconde to have country breakfast and then will be the transfer by public bus to the Condor Croos lookout (30 minutes), there we will wait 2 hours maximum for flight of biggest birds in the world. We continue travelling by public bus on left bank of the canyon to Chivay, all them located on the left margin of the Colca River with nice lookout, colony churches, ouvenir markets, etc.

12PM we will be getting our lunch in good typical restaurant in Chivay town (3600M) and then travel 4 hours back to Arequipa.

5PM arrive to Arequipa and end of the trip. Breakfast.

PRIVATE SERVICE: At 5AM will be our breakfast and short trekking on the left bank of the Colca river to meet the transport and then drive on gravel road to leave the canyon up to Cabanaconde (3285M) for about 1 hour.

Around 8AM we will be at the famous at Mirador Cruz Del Condor (3600M), there we will wait a prodent time to watch the flight of biggest birds in the world. We continue travelling by private car visiting different villages like Achoma, Maca, Achoma, Yanque and Chivay, all them located on the left margin of the Colca River with nice lookout, colony churches, souvenir markets, etc.

Around 12PM we will be getting our lunch in good typical restaurant in Chivay town (3600M) and then travel 4 hours back to Arequipa.

Around 5PM arrival to Arequipa, drop-off at your hotel and end our experience. Breakfast.
