Arequipa´s half-day hike was especially created for hiker lovers and to discover the greatest Arequipa's countryside, located just 45min away from the city center.

This half-day hike includes a great time to disconnect you from the noise and stresful of the city, to encounter with nature, with nice farming people, and enjoy a suitable hike designed for young and adult people.
The hike also includes stop at the colonial church of Characato, to realice how strong was the spanairs influence since 1541.
Thanks to the strong Spanish influence today Characato district is a great reference of pride as known as "Los Characatos".

TECHNICAL INFORMATION
**DEPARTURES:**Every day at 8AM or 12M from PERU ADVENTURE office (Calle Rivero 509).Latecomers or not-shows can't be refunded.
SEASON: All year around.
DISTANCE & TIMING: 8KM (5miles) - 3hrs of hiking as maximum time.
TOUR LENGTH: About 6 hours.
HIKE HIGHLIGHTS: Great countryside landscape, local farming on Inca terracing, and colonial buildings.
DIFFICULTY: Easy to medium level - Suitable for everyone.
ALTITUDE: Between 2490M and 2600M (8169,29ft and 8530,18ft).
HIKE ITINERARY THROUGH AREQUIPA'S COUNTRYSIDE
Arequipa's half-day hiking tours begins at 8AM or 12M from our office in downtown (Calle Rivero 509, Downtown) – 45 minutes of car transfer to the trailhead located outside of the city. The hike begins with great view of entire countryside of Characato valley - The trail is mostly gradual with some small uphill sections following well preserved trail upper the farming fields and seeing local farmers on their daily activities since colonial times. If you chose to practice this hike in the morning, for sure will be very hot and is recommended to wear good hat, long sleeve T-Shirt and sun proctetion.
The distance to hike is between 6KM and 8KM, which is around 3hrs through great countryside atmosphere.
For morning departs (8AM), the hikers can have the alternative to be drop-off at local restaurant as known as "Picanteria" to really taste the genuine cuisine of Arequipa region, considered one of the best in Peru. Characato offers good local restaurants to have lunch and satisfied your taste.
