From the time of the Conquest until 1572, the remnants of the Inca civilization inhabited what is now the zone of Vilcabamba, a region of mountains and jungles between the Urubamba and Apurimac rivers. We offer a unique large expedition, off the beaten path into the Vilcabamba regions, considered the lost Capital of the Incas during the Conquest time. Today the essence of Vilcabamba remains unchanged. A strange mixture of quiet beauty and shrouded mystery everywhere, the countryside is strewn with evidence of the once powerful Inca. During the adventure trek will let you visit several Andean towns, archaeological sites and also enjoying the beautiful local flora and fauna. On the way there are archaeological sites such as ñusta Hispana, classical square lined with massive Inca stone work. Vitcos is dominating the last residence of Manco Inca. Vilcabamba trek is the entering to the hearth of the jungle, mostly covered by thick overgrowth and many species of orchids and also the specie of birds such as “cock of the rock” (national bird of Peru).
