Extensive plazas and terraces once covered the land here, nearly 2,000 years ago. It was built on the edge of the desert plateau, called a pampa, bounded by two lush river valleys. This was the home of the ancient Nasca people. North of Cahuachi is the pampa and the Nasca lines. The city seemed to have been dedicated solely to ritual and ceremonial center
