7AM pick-up from your hotel and 1hr of private car transfer through the suburbs to get out of Cusco city until the next town of Chinchero (3750M).
Here is the 1st place to visit, where is located the oldest Palace of Inca Tupac Yupanqui, son of the famous Inca Pachacutec, who was very important king of the Inca empire. 40min of walking inside the archaeological site to introduce you in the ancient greatest culture.
Chinchero is also well recognized thanks to great textiles production by the local women. At the textile center they will show you the weaving technics.
We will continue our journey across nice land farming and great views of the high section of the sacred valley of the Incas.
The 2nd stop will at Maras salt mines, located on the half way down of the sacred valley of Incas. Maras is considered one of the most genuine and captivating place thanks to labyrinth of salt pools made by ancient pre-Inca civilization and thanks to hard work for centuries today we still see how the local people extract, make process and how important is the role of the salt in the local tradition and economy.
Our 3rd place to enjoy the magnificent of agriculture development on the Inca times will be Moray. Short walk inside the marvelous, impressive and ingeniously agriculture terraces in a circular shape designed by Inca engineering to create different microclimates for different types of plants. The propose of this botanic laboratory was to acclimatize many crops (maize, potatoes and others) to high altitude of the Inca empire.
Finally, and OPTIONAL will be 2hrs of hike from Moray archeological site downhill to the bottom of the sacred valley of the Incas (4-6KM). This nice hiking in the valley of the Incas will be passing great landscape fully of agriculture activities and getting in touch with local farmers around. To do this hike we advice to consider the time and weather conditions.
Around 4PM we will find our transport and then transfer to Ollantaytambo to aboard the train and 2hrs of journey along the canyon till Aguas Calientes town, located at the bottom of Machu Picchu ruins.
In Aguas Calientes you will have assistance to find your hotel. For dinner are many good local restaurants and to have good sleep to be ready for next day highlight.... hasta mañana.
PS: Today lunch is not included. You can have lunch on the way from Moray to Ollantaytambo or everyone can bring their own snacks and drinks to make easier.
