CERRO BLANCO SAND DUNE is located between the Coastal and the high Andes, considerate the highest sand dune in the world. Cerro Blanco (2070m) is the only sand dune surrounded by the brown and rocky mountain, two large valley located on the south and north side. In the Incas time was considerate sacred place where they did offering to the “Apus” (mountains), today Cerro Blanco is a perfect sand dune to practice Sandboard, Dune Buggy, Paragliding, Atv´s tours, Downhill mountain bike, trekking and camping on the sand slopes. We are the first travel agency running adventure tours supporting the environment, flora and fauna of this dune.

Day by Day Itinerary

DAY 1: NASCA - TREKKING TO CERRO BLANCO BASE CAMP (2070M)

At midday (12M) pick up from your hotel or from bus stop or airport of Nasca and journey following the road to Cusco.

Firstly, we will drive through the upper countryside of Nasca, passing great landscape along the Tierras Blancas River, and golden mountains worked by gold hunters.

After 40 minutes we will arrive to the trailhead, from this point we will start our adventure for about 3-4hrs to the summit of the Cerro Blanco Dune.

The first part of this trekking goes through small hills and canyons, to the base of the dune. This part of the way up is considered gradually easier section, because the trail is on solid terrain with great contrast of natural color contrast around the dune.

The second section of this trek, will be on the sandy section for the next 2hrs until the camping zone at 2000M of altitude. Those 2hrs will be the hardest part of the trek but awarded by great sceneries, and luckily decorated by the flight of the Andean Condors.

Finally, we will arrive to the camping place, set up the tents, and then practice of Sandboard at the top with great sunset over the surrounding mountains.

Diner included with starry sky on the middle of nothing and breathing serenity and silence on the highest sand dune in the world.

DAY 2: CERRO BLANCO SANDBOARDING - NASCA

Today we invite you to enjoy a breathtaking view of the mountain sunrise accompanied by greatest peaceful, this will be other highlights of this adventure.

At 7AM we have breakfast with greatest views of surrounding views, and luckily again we will see the flight of the Andean Condors.

After packing all our tents, we will practice sandboarding on the small dune sections trying several techniques of the board until we are ready to go downhill Sandboarding.

Around 9AM we will start the downhill sandboarding on the longest route for about 1hr, until the bottom of the dune. You feel the adrenaline and amazing falls getting some sand showers…. Very very ;-) experience.

Around midday we will be at the lowest section of the dune, 1hr of trekking along driest canyon until to find our transport and 30min of drive to your hotel in Nasca and end of service (B).
