This horseback riding tour from Cusco to the sacred valley and then visit to Machu Picchu is designed for horse lovers. We invite you to ride a Peruvian horse through the Andes around Cusco. This tour is offered from April to November including fascinating lagoons, archaeological sites as Saqsayhuaman fortress, Moray as know as agricultural laboratory and Maras as known as Salineras. Riders will also enjoy lot landscape of the sacred valley of the Incas, where we offer camping under starry and tranquility sky, lot of contact with local people working their farms as known Chacras.

HORSEBACK RIDING TOUR ITINERARY

DAY 1: HORSEBACK RIDING FROM CUSCO TO SAQSAYHUAMAN - LAKE PIURAY - SENCQA

Today at 7AM we will pick up from your hotel and begin the horseback riding tour from Cusco to the sacred valley of the Incas.
The tour starts with pick up from hotel and transfer to the ranch where we will meet the horses and the horseman. Safety talking about how to ride the horses, check the saddles, instructions to ride the horses on the uphill and downhill.
The today you will ride about 4 hours beginning in Cusco, Saqsayhuaman fortress, the upper part of Saqsayhuaman and finally arrive to Sencqa village (3725M) and next to this point is the Lake of Piuray (3670m). Today ride includes highlight of the Altiplano of Cusco, mountain range and lot of flora and fauna along the way.
Tonight includes to stay with a local family (L - D).

DAY 2: HORSEBACK RIDING FROM SENCQA - CHINCHERO - HUAYPO LAKE - TIOBAMBA

On this second will be more exciting to ride the horses on the Altiplano seeing the local farmers making the daily activities. Today will be the longest ride including 5 or 6 hours of ride, having picnic as lunch on the half way down to the Inca complexes.
Following an easy way and mostly flat we will pass next of Chinchero (3720M), lake of Huaypo (3508M), Moray agricultural laboratory (3500M) and finally arrive to Tio Bamba (3550M) where we will set up the tents to spend the night in this very quiet little village. Tiobamba village is enter to the sacred valley of the Incas, it means you will see lot mountain range in the other side of the canyon of Urubamba, peaks over 5 thousand meters as Chicon (5530M), Capacsaya (5044M), Pumahuanja (5318M) and Halancoma (5367M).
This day the landscape also offer lot view of local’s and agriculture activities.
Late afternoon visit the local family, dinner and homestay (B – L - D).

DAY 3: HORSEBACK RIDING FROM TIOBAMBA - MORAY - MARAS - SACRED VALLEY OF THE INCAS - CUSCO

Today the horseback riding tour will be more exciting than the last day. After country breakfast with spectacular view of the mountain range begin the guided tour to Moray (3470M) as known agricultural laboratory, here will be nice introduction how the ancient civilization develops many agriculture tactics on the highlands. Continue riding following a nice downhill path visit the Maras (2980M) as known salt mine, from this point just downhill to the sacred valley of the Incas and continue riding along Urubamba River through lot of agriculture fields till Yanahuara village (2890M) where the ride ends, today you’ll ride around 5 hours.
Around 2PM will be the last lunch in Ollantaytambo (sacred valley) and then transfer to the hotel in Cusco or you can continue travelling to Aguas Calientes by train, this train ticket is not included (B - L).

TIP: You will receive a basic course in riding Paso horses in the safety of our corral (beginners).
