Challenge Your Hiking Skill In A Formidable Volcanic Geography Of Arequipa (6Hrs)
El volcan Misti (5825M) is only 23KM northeast of Arequipa as known as the white city of Peru – Our company provide this alternative trek for adventure people looking for trekking to one base camp on the slopes of an active volcano – Trekking Volcan Misti includes very nice landscaped of upper zone, villages and countryside contrast around Arequipa.
This short trek on the slope of volcan Misti is available every day - The uphill trek is no technical but hard thank to altitude and everything depends of physical condition of each participants to get as high as possible in 3Hrs as maximum time. This trek is recommended to do in the afternoon to enjoy the sunset over Arequipa but just during dry season (April to Dec.) but during raining epoch will be better to try in the morning.

ITINERARY FOR HALF DAY TREKKING TO VOLCAN MISTI
At 8AM or Midday (12PM) every participants need to be at PERU ADVENTURE TOURS office (Calle Rivero 509 - DownTown). Latecomers or not-shows can't be refunded.
Firstly we drive for about 1 hour to get out of the city and then we will take a dirty and bumpy road on the slopes of volcan Misti up to 3440M, the road is accessible only by 4x4 jeep (no taxis or any public bus service) – Finally we will arrive to the limit between urban zone and Reserva Nacional de Aguada Blanca y Salinas, where is located this active volcano and recognized as guardian of Arequipa city, El Misti means "The Lord".
The trek begins about 3440M of altitude following a narrow and steep path going through lot andean bushes, small canyons and tree forest of Queñuales (Polylepis) to provide shelter for some birds of this region (humming birds, falcon, eagles, Andean woodpecker, and others) – The uphill trek whenever becomes stronger thanks to low oxygen about 3800M height – Everyone will have 3 hours as maximum time to ascend as high as possible to reach over 4000M or higher point of altitude to enjoy spot of Pichu Pichu and Chachani Mountain, or greatest sunset over the valley and Arequipa city.
After 3hrs of uphill trek we will reach the highest point (between 4000M - 4500M), we will have short break at the slope of the volcan Misti. Then begin downhill trekking by the same trail for about 1hr to find our jeep and 1hr drive back to our office in Arequipa and end of service.
TIME LENGHT = 6HRS (Half Day)

1hr drive from our office to the trailhead of volcan Misti (3440M).

3hrs of trekking up to 4000M or higher point, this will be varying according each fitness and acclimatization of each participant.

1hr for downhill come back to the jeep.

1hr drive back to our office and end of service.
PICK-UP & DROP-OFF LOCATION - ORGANIZED GROUPS
Pick-up: Group & Private Service bookings, departure from PERU ADVENTURE TOURS. everyone needs to be 5min before 8AM or 12M. See our online LOCATION.
If you want to be collected from your accommodation, this will be done with additional cost of $5 USD per each participant. This additional service needs to be confirmed at booking time.
Latecomers or not-shows can't be refunded.
Drop-off: For Group & Private Service, the service begins and ends at our head office in Arequipa** or near of the central plaza.**
Organized Groups: We organize departures at any time between 8AM and 12M (midday). The organized groups will be considered only if there are more 10 participants. In this case we recommend to contact our sales staff to ask for large group price.
LAST MOMENT BOOKING
Our tour company is not responsible for any troubles in case customers decide to arrange/book this trek just hours before the departed, because some days our trek guides or our 4x4's are not available for the next day.

TIPPING IN THE TOURIST INDUSTRY
Our online prices doesn't includes tips. As a general rule, you should consider up to 10% of the service cost. Remember, these amounts are strictly meant to be used as guidelines. However, many factors will influence this figure, so there is no true “one size fits all” answer. Feel free to tip more if our field staff were exceptionally kind and helpful. Of course you can tipping them in either Soles or US Dollars, and for sure they will share your gratitude in equitative way. We hope this advise will be help you to understand the tipping modality.
